Brian Hoven's inspiration is a fusion of cultural interpretations of the natural world around us, and the spaces we fill in this life. The balance of the mind & body is the underlying theme. Balancing the physical endurance of the body & stillness of the mind.

Originally born and raised in Chicago, Brian Hoven now lives in Detroit with his wife and two children. Most of his early art training was in comic book illustrations. Some of his first work published was in the Conan the Barbarian comic book series in the early 1980s. Later he sold work as he traveled across the country from Mexico to Hawaii and the Caribbean islands along with many other places that offered the best kayaking, skiing, sailing, biking, or surfing. The most recent work comes from having lived in the Massif Central region of France. Many of Brian’s past, present, and future journeys inspire his subject matter.

His artwork is now featured in Eclectica Gallery in Louisville Kentucky, and can be found in Chicago, Detroit, and private commissions throughout the United States and Europe.
