  • Details
This pair of mid century Limoges platters is as a very old and charming pair of fine Haviland porcelain platters in two sizes. The two platters manufacturing provenance is verified by the highly recognizable GDA mark as well as the round red Charles Field Haviland mark on the back of the pieces.

GDA was one of the marks used by the long line of American Haviland family members who produced fine porcelain in Limoges, France for the American market. This particular form of the mark was used from 1900 - 1953. The second red mark on the pieces was only used until 1941. So the time period of these platter would fall between 1900 and 1941. In a great many peoples' eyes the china produced from this collaboration of the American Haviland family with French porcelain factories gave the world its most creme de la creme pieces.

The large platter measures 17" x 11", and the small platter measures 11" x 8" The large platter is in excellent condition for its age with no chips, cracks or significant fading or wear to the gold. The smaller platter has one reglued handle that seems serviceable and not too glaring in appearance from the top.

I think both platters could and should be enjoyed and used for the jobs they have obviously done on dinner tables of the past, all the while savoring the unique and aristocratic bordered design and all around luxuriousness. The price is for both platters and has been kept affordable in compensation for the repair on the smaller dish.
