This Lenox ramekin is from Lenox's most popular casual "Chinastone" dinnerware pattern called "Poppies on Blue". This is a the short ceramic handleless cup usually used for serving, or for baking and serving, an individual portion of a side dish or dessert. Ramekins with their straight sides are another version of the traditional custard cup with slant sides. The red poppies of the pattern are accompanied by green foliage and stems with hints of yellow as well as blue striping and blue leaf-like embellishments all applied to a classically Lenox creamy white background. Overall it is a very simple and stylistic pattern with enough subtle variation in its color palette to blend with many table linen and accompanying serving ware themes.
The Poppies on Blue pattern was produced by Lenox between the years of 1984 and 2007 and is a beautifully versatile pattern that works remarkably gorgeously for any season. One of the largest chinest replacement services has said that the "Poppies on Blue" is their most popular Lenox pattern and one of their most popular patterns overall. That situation in itself has been responsible for keeping the pieces in this pattern more expensive than much of the other stoneware in its class.
This ramkin measures 2" high x 3 1/4" in diamter at the top. It is in very good condition with no flaws or damage.
NOTE - Lenox Chinastone, as a sturdier dishware than its more delicate fine china, is designed to go from freezer to oven to table and is microwave and dishwasher safe.
Keep watch in the next few days as I will be listing an assortment of other pieces in this pattern.
