  • Details
This type of crescent shaped china dish was popular as part of a formal table setting during Victorian times and through the early 1900s until approximately the 1940s. It was intended to be used next to the dinner plate to hold bones pulled out of fish or meat during consumption of the main course at a meal.

This particular dish has no bottom mark or stamp, however resembles the style of many Bavarian made pieces of the early 20th century.

6 1/2" long x 3 1/8" wide x 1" high and in very nice condition for its age. There is some wear to the gold edging. I like the idea of adapting a graceful little dish like this to a modern use holding jewelry or other dresser items, or even rubber bands or paper clips on a desk. It would also make a nice spoon rest next to your cooktop.
