  • Details
This piece of Moriyama Pottery is very unique hand painted Art Deco dish from the early 1920s and created by the Moriyama Pottery Co. that was founded in 1911 and located in Mori-Machi in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

The unique charm of the plate lies mostly in its delicate scalloped edge with hand painted green border and profusion of raised relief daisy flowers with hand painted green dots in the center. The plate's center circle is decorated with a fruit, flower, & leaf transfer.

There are currently four studios continuing the Moriyama tradition in and around Mori-machi, Japan, but this plate being from the early days of such a long and continuing tradition makes it a particularly desireable collectible, as well as a very pretty and interesting display or serving piece. Also a nice gift for anyone with a fondness for dishware with a fine and unique provenance.

7 3/4" diameter. Good condition for its age despite 2 small chips on the underneath side of the scalloped edge. A unique decorative accent on an easel.
