  • Details
Together Woods & Son, along with the Ellgreave Co. (who began to join them in the 1920s), made pottery and china for over 200 years before they closed in the late 1990s.

Between 1950 - 1978 Woods & Ellgreave together produced a large number of teapots in a rather large number of different shapes, sizes, and decorative patterns, and began to stamp them with the declaration "Potter for over 200 years". This is one of the teapots made during that era, and one of few that can be found in this popular and versatile fruit pattern.

The pot measures 9" from tip of handle to tip of spout, and 9" high with its lid on. My guess is that it would easily hold a quart of liquid. Its simple fruit design allows it to fit beautifully in a less formal situation, however the inclusion of some gold trim lets it be formal enough for the dining room table also.

The condition is beautiful with only the slightest bit of vintage crazing in one or two spots. This is a particularly fine specimen of one of the most popular teapot designs of an English pottery brand with a most venerable history. It would be a wonderful addition to a teapot collection, but even better to use for serving tea to your brunch guests.
